The Howard Baker Forum and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory organized "The Changing Outlook for U.S. Energy: Will Shale Gas Transform America's Energy Future?" on September 24-25, 2012 at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. Event sponsors included Bloomberg Government and Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC. A uniquely bipartisan group of partner institutions supported the event: Colorado School of Mines, Council on Competitiveness, Institute for 21st Century Energy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin, Resources for the Future, and Third Way. The two-day event offered a balanced assessment of the benefits, risks, and technology solutions related to producing shale gas throughout the United States.
