On September 1, 2009, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) rescinded Transmittal 297, replacing it with Transmittal 300 which postpones until March 10, 2010 the Consignment Closet restrictions. This will provide the industry an opportunity to comment on the restrictions. In Transmittal 300, CMS provides guidance to the industry and the National Supplier Clearinghouse Medicare Administrative Contractor (NSC-MAC) on how to implement the changes and clarifies the need to comply with current standards, as well as defines the additional standards for validation of compliance which were outlined in Transmittal 297.
