On April 1, 2011, the Small Business Administration authorized federal agencies for the first time to reserve certain contract awards for Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSB). This new program puts women-owned businesses in a unique position to take advantage of the government’s 5% federal contracting goal — equal to roughly $27 billion of the federal government’s total $536 billion spend on government contracting.
