Conducting background checks is a key factor to assist employers with ensuring a safe, secure workplace. In conducting those checks, however, it is also crucial that you abide by the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), with state and local mini-FCRA laws, laws governing credit history inquiries, and "ban-the-box" laws.

In this month’s Chat, we will explore compliance with the FCRA and discuss the interplay of state and local laws governing background checks.
