There have been significant changes since the last presentation involving enhanced IRS global enforcement efforts along with new legislation. The focus of the seminar will be on several important topics including the following:

  • Passport Revocation under Section 7345 is in full force and effect and how to navigate this new area of IRS enforcement action.
  • IRS recently announced the upcoming closure of the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program as of September 28, 2018 – discussion of alternatives and what does this mean in light of expanded IRS and Treasury Department global "information gathering" activities.
  • How to deal with a "dormant" account at a foreign bank that a taxpayer just found out about.
  • Update on important developments in the Foreign and Domestic Streamline areas including timing and what to expect by way of IRS responses and penalties.
  • Are any Israeli banks currently being investigated by the IRS and is it possible to address non-compliance issues for those affected taxpayers?
  • Updates on expatriation related tax matters involving "covered expatriates" including those who live outside the United States.
  • Continued discussion on Section 965 Repatriation Tax in light of the "looming" deadline for initial payment on June 15, 2018.
  • Discussion on choice of entity in light of the reduced corporate tax rate.
  • Updates on new Code Section 199A and opportunities to secure 20% reduced tax rate.
  • Additional insights on the GILTI tax and BEAT tax.
  • New interest deduction limitations.
  • New bonus depreciation rules.
