(Jackson, Mississippi / August 1, 2013) Baker Donelson is pleased to announce that the Women's Initiative members from the Firm's Jackson, Mississippi office have been named the 2013 "Heroes of the Year" by the Center for Violence Prevention.
The Women's Initiative members were recognized for their dedication to the Center for Violence Prevention (CVP) at the organization's 9th annual benefit known as the "Chick Ball." The CVP is a non-profit organization committed to offering services to domestic sexual assault and human trafficking victims in central Mississippi.
"This group of women is deserving of this recognition because they have gone the extra mile by receiving training on issues of domestic violence and in helping clients at our shelter with legal issues," said Sandy Middleton, executive director of the CVP. "Their efforts have achieved results in protecting the women in our program."
Launched in 2005, Baker Donelson's Women's Initiative was formed to substantially improve the recruitment and retention of women attorneys, increase the representation of women in leadership positions at Baker Donelson, heed the call of clients to provide a more diversified attorney team and improve career development for the Firm's female attorneys.
