Served as Tennessee counsel for an international drug manufacturer in numerous opioid cases as part of nationwide litigation. These cases, filed by state and local governments, sought to recover billions spent on the opioid crisis. Plaintiffs included the State of Tennessee, over half of its counties, numerous cities and towns, and classes including babies allegedly born addicted to opioids. The cases alleged various state law theories, including nuisance, negligence, and violations of the Tennessee Drug Dealer Liability Act and consumer protection laws. Some cases were dismissed, others settled, and the remaining were discharged in the client's bankruptcy.
