Former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle spoke with the Wall Street Journal about plans for a new public policy advisory firm, which will be called The Daschle Group and will be affiliated with Baker Donelson, the law firm founded by the grandfather of Howard Baker.
Mr. Daschle said his admiration for Mr. Baker was one of the reasons he wanted to align his new company, which will also do some lobbying, with the law firm.
"It was through him that I got to know the firm," Mr. Daschle said. "More than almost anyone else I know, he was really committed to finding common ground and meaningful bipartisan compromise, and I want to take the same attitude and that same approach as I begin my new firm."
