Baker Donelson's S. Craig Holden Named AHLA Fellow

The American Health Law Association (AHLA) has named Baker Donelson attorney S. Craig Holden to its 2024 class of Fellows.

AHLA is the nation's largest, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in the health care field. Each year, the Association's Board of Directors approves a slate of esteemed individuals, recommended by the Fellows Coordinating Council, as AHLA Fellows. These long-time members have demonstrated professional acumen as one of the top health law professionals in their community and have shown a commitment to the Association through their participation as speakers, authors, mentors, and leaders.

Mr. Holden, who joined AHLA in 1987, chaired the Program Planning Committee for the Fraud and Compliance Forum and subsequently served on the Board of Directors of AHLA. He was the president from 2020 to 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic which presented unprecedented challenges to the Association's in-person conference business model. He also championed AHLA to be a positive contributor to the dialogue on racial and other inequities in health care and potential solutions. As a Board member, Mr. Holden chaired numerous committees including the Governance Committee, where he worked to change and strengthen the Association's governance structure and policies. He also helped craft and support the organization's initiatives respecting inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. Mr. Holden is a frequent speaker at AHLA events.

A former co-chair of Baker Donelson's Health Law Group, Mr. Holden is senior counsel in the Firm's Baltimore office, where he focuses his practice on health law with particular emphasis on matters involving Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse issues, Medicare and third-party reimbursement, and compliance. He also serves as a mediator in health-care-related disputes.

Mr. Holden is recognized as a leading health care attorney by Chambers USA, Maryland Super Lawyers, and The Best Lawyers in America®, which also named him the Best Lawyers 2019 and 2016 Health Care "Lawyer of the Year" in Baltimore.
