Brian Pike is a member of Baker Donelson's Office of the General Counsel, where he represents and advises the Firm on professional liability defense, contracting, and risk mitigation strategies. He also assists the Firm with technology contracting and artificial intelligence (AI).
In addition, Mr. Pike has experience representing and advising web-based technology companies, renewable energy and parts manufacturers, and large insurance companies in complex commercial disputes in multiple jurisdictions. He has participated in the defense of business litigation claims alleging breach of contract, misrepresentation, and fraud. Mr. Pike also has experience defending large manufacturers in the renewable industry in breach of contract and related construction disputes. He has assisted regional litigation counsel for a large insurance company across product lines, including mobility, commercial general liability, and homeowners. This work includes defending claims alleging professional negligence, personal injury, and state tort claims, including an alleged breach of an insurer's duty of good faith in claim management.
Mr. Pike's web-based technology company experience includes defending against claims involving negligence, wrongful death, and negligent hiring. He has extensive experience in legal technology and process improvement initiatives for legal operations and law firms, and he works closely with Baker Donelson's Client Solutions Group to design and implement process and technology solutions across all of the Firm's practice areas.
He formerly served as an operations and process analyst in the legal department of a top American auto manufacturer, where he advised and collaborated with the operations department and firm counsel on global convergence processes, technology planning and implementation, policy creation and deployment, and other initiatives, such as diversity and inclusion.
Prior to that role, Mr. Pike worked with a U.K.-based legal Alternative Business Structure (ABS) and its U.S. technology company as an associate attorney and solutions architect. Within this multi-faceted role, he worked directly with developers to productize legal technology and prototype solutions for customers across industries, specializing in law firm and in-house business solutions. He presented these solutions to stakeholders, including Fortune 100 companies, and worked with U.K.-counsel on start-up related legal issues.
