Javier is a seasoned corporate attorney specializing in technology-related and complex commercial contracts. With extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of agreements – including API and developer agreements, sales and distribution, global agreements, vendor and product sales agreements, software licensing, and OEM agreements – he provides comprehensive legal support tailored to his clients' strategic objectives.
Javier's knowledge extends to Software as a Service (SaaS) agreements, Master Services Agreements (MSAs), strategic alliance and partnership agreements, professional services agreements, and multi-phase statements of work (SOWs). He is also proficient in handling product services agreements, sponsorship agreements, and point-of-sale (POS) subscription agreements, enabling him to navigate the complexities of modern business transactions efficiently.
Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Javier worked as in-house counsel for leading companies across various industries, including a manufacturer of construction, agriculture, and landscaping equipment; a Fortune 500 fintech company; a financial services and insurance company; and an international mining company. His experience extends to working with governmental municipalities, universities, and entities in sectors such as recreational services, reservation systems, ticketing, registration, college athletics, venues and stadiums, restaurants, loan repayment services, and educational institutions across the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
Born in Cuba, Javier arrived in the United States as a refugee, and he leverages his bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, along with his diverse cultural background, to effectively serve a broad clientele. His personal journey enriches his understanding of different perspectives, allowing him to provide nuanced legal counsel tailored to each client's unique needs. Outside of his professional endeavors, Javier is a proud father of two daughters.
