Professional Biography


Jerrick Murrell is an associate in Baker Donelson's Memphis office and a member of the Health Care Litigation Group. He assists clients in a variety of litigation matters, including commercial litigation, employment law, health care, insurance defense, personal injury, products liability, and torts. Jerrick has handled cases in various jurisdictions throughout the country, including Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia, and New York. He has also handled numerous mediations and arbitration proceedings. His diverse litigation experience enables him to resolve numerous cases by assessing liability and developing risk management strategies.

Jerrick has extensive experience in representing hospitals, health care facilities, and physicians in health care liability actions, as well as national insurance carriers in bad faith denial disputes.

Jerrick's personal injury experience includes defending motor carriers and ridesharing companies in legal actions alleging negligence, negligent hiring, retention and supervision, and negligent entrustment. Jerrick's product liability experience includes defending manufacturers against claims alleging defective and unreasonably dangerous products, as well as failure to warn cases.

Jerrick regularly represents employers before administrative agencies and courts in matters involving claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. His practice also includes helping clients avoid lawsuits through internal investigations and proactive anti-discrimination training, including the ADA, ADEA, and Title VII.

Jerrick's experience also includes defending business litigation claims alleging breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, misrepresentation, fraud, and violations of state and federal consumer protection statutes.

Jerrick is a member of the Firm's Diversity Committee, and he is also a contributor to the Firm's Diversity Ever After podcast where he speaks on topics relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the practice of law and the workplace.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Jerrick served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable John T. Fowlkes, Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.

  • Obtained dismissal of a lawsuit alleging violations of 42 U.S.C. § 1981 against a large retail company.

  • Successfully obtained a jury verdict in a lawsuit alleging violations of 42 U.S.C. § 1983, age discrimination, and retaliation against a municipality.

  • Successfully obtained a bench verdict in a lawsuit alleging negligence against a governmental entity for the actions of a law enforcement officer.
