Kevin Baltz provides counsel and tries cases in complex commercial and business litigation matters.

Professional Biography


Mr. Baltz is an experienced business counselor and trial attorney. He litigates complex commercial disputes in a variety of industries, including real estate, health care, manufacturing, construction, and finance. He has tried cases in state and federal courts, the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc. (JAMS), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Mr. Baltz is a Rule 31 Listed Mediator in the field of General Civil Litigation by the Tennessee Supreme Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission. In 2024, he was inducted into the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.

The Tennessee Supreme Court has twice recognized Mr. Baltz as an "Attorney for Justice" based upon his dedication to pro bono service (2021 and 2023).

  • Defense counsel in a class action dispute under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

  • Achieved a defense verdict in a product liability jury trial involving a three-wheeled vehicle.

  • Representing an automobile engine manufacturer in a consumer class action.

  • Represents insurers in first-party extra-contractual and bad faith lawsuits.

  • Prevailed before the Tennessee Supreme Court in a highly publicized case addressing Tennessee's motion for summary judgment standard and the unique concept of contract "novation."

  • Defended bad faith claims arising from Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey federal courts.

  • Litigated and/or advised clients on numerous matters related to contractual obligations and defenses arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and significant weather events.

  • Represented and advised numerous commercial clients on real property disputes, including quiet title actions, landlord-tenant disputes, construction disputes, and lien issues.

  • Successfully vacated and voided an arbitration award.
