Latest 2018 Midterm Election Results

Washington, D.C. Update: December 2018

The latest 2018 midterm results indicate that Democrats have picked up at least 40 net seats to gain control of the House, while Republicans picked up two net seats to expand their Senate majority. Democrats also won seven net governorships.

U.S. House of Representatives

Democrats hold 235 seats and Republicans hold 199 seats, for a 40-seat net swing towards a Democratic majority. One race has yet to be certified.

U.S. Senate

Republicans hold 53 seats and Democrats hold 47 seats, for a two-seat net gain for the Republican majority.

Governorships

Democrats hold 23 governorships and Republicans hold 27 governorships, for a seven governorship net swing towards the Democrats.
