Health care facilities will soon be subject to a new set of regulations affecting how they dispose of prescription drugs in their facilities. Under the new Environmental Protection Agency rule, the practice of "sewering" drugs (i.e., flushing them down the toilet) will be prohibited, and other requirements may also apply. Long term care facilities in particular will be affected, but all health care facilities should be aware of these changes. The new requirements present a compliance challenge for all health care facilities covered by the rule.
On July 30, Baker Donelson is offering a special webinar discussing these new requirements, which go into effect on August 21. Please join us to learn more about the requirements of the EPA Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals Rule and what the rule means for long-term care facilities and health care facilities in general.
