While the Affordable Care Act is at the forefront for many staffing and recruiting companies, numerous other government regulations are also on the minds of business owners in the industry. Vice Chair of Baker Donelson's Labor & Employment Department David Gevertz talks with the Atlanta Business Chronicle about one of the more recent regulations involving the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which came out with a new emphasis on staffing agencies and temporary workers. Mr. Gevertz notes the agency became concerned that injuries to employees - not white collar - were occurring right after the employee started, possibly the result of not enough training on manufacturing equipment or with chemicals.
"Unfortunately, there is not a lot a staffing agency can do to ensure adequate safety training other than to request it in writing and have a good indemnity position," Mr. Gevertz says.
