The regulations implementing Genetic Information Non discrimination Act (GINA) became effective on January 10, 2011 and will impact common HR practices. GINA prohibits discrimination and retaliation by employers based on an individual's genetic information (i.e., results of an individual's genetic tests which may reveal certain diseases or disorders). The Act also regulates how such information may be gathered, monitored and disclosed. The new GINA regulations have a more significant impact in the workplace than most employers realize. Join attorneys Wes Redmond and Rachel VanNortwick as they provide information about how employers may need to modify their HR practices and commonly used HR forms to avoid GINA-based discrimination claims and to comply with the recent regulations.
