Office Information

Our Macon history is closely tied to that of Gambrell & Stolz, one of two firms with which Baker Donelson combined to form our current Atlanta practice. Harvard Law School graduate and Teaching Fellow David Gambrell had served as treasurer for Jimmy Carter's gubernatorial campaigns. He was appointed as a U.S. Senator by then-President Carter and also served as president of both the Atlanta Bar Association and State Bar of Georgia. In 1983, he formed Gambrell & Stolz with former Georgia Court of Appeals judge Irwin W. Stolz. The firm grew to 37 attorneys and merged with Baker Donelson in 2007.

Just four years prior, Gambrell & Stolz had merged with what is now our Macon office. Aware that growth in number of attorneys and geographic reach was necessary to compete successfully with larger full-service firms in Atlanta, the firm explored combination opportunities and in 2007 the Atlanta and Macon partners of Gambrell & Stolz unanimously elected to join Baker Donelson.
