Michael J. Halaiko and Alexandra P. Moylan, health law and privacy attorneys with deep experience in the life science and clinical research fields, have joined the national law firm of Baker Donelson as shareholders in the Firm's Health Law Group and its Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity Team.

Joining in the Firm's Baltimore and Washington, D.C. offices, Mr. Halaiko focuses on providing strategic guidance to life science companies, clinical research organizations, and businesses across diverse industries. With extensive experience in artificial intelligence (AI) governance and compliance, he navigates clients through complex AI, privacy, and data protection issues. Mr. Halaiko, who previously chaired a prominent national law firm's Pre-Clinical and Clinical Study Practice Group, also acts as outside general counsel for numerous companies, advising on risk management, insurance, employment, and litigation matters.
Ms. Moylan, who also joins as a member of both the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. offices, is a seasoned health care and business attorney with a track record of representing major medical systems, health care providers, life science companies, and other businesses. Her experience spans clinical research and development, contracting, privacy compliance, professional liability, and enterprise risk management. Ms. Moylan, a Certified AI Governance Professional, advises businesses on governance and risk management policies specific to AI and provides corporate education on AI.
Mr. Halaiko and Ms. Moylan are both Certified Information Privacy Professionals. Mr. Halaiko (CIPP/E) offers insights into GDPR and the EU's Clinical Trial Information System (CTIS). Ms. Moylan (CIPP/US) advises clients on compliance with data privacy and protection laws governing the collection, use, and processing of personal data, sensitive personal information, and protected health information. Mr. Halaiko and Ms. Moylan have extensive experience guiding clients through the intricacies of clinical trials in the European Economic Area, ensuring compliance with the EU Clinical Trial Regulation (CTR), GDPR, and other regulations.
Mr. Halaiko and Ms. Moylan join a strong group of health law professionals in Baker Donelson's Baltimore office, which is the third largest of the Firm's more than 20 offices.
