The New Orleans office of Baker Donelson was founded on February 14, 2004 by 14 outstanding lawyers from two different law firms.

Today the Firm, which has a presence in the city's Central Business District, as well as in Mandeville, a burgeoning community north of Lake Pontchartrain, and in Baton Rouge, boasts more than 70 top-notch Louisiana attorneys who act as trusted advisors and advocates to businesses and business people.  

The lawyers of the New Orleans office provide a full array of business legal services, and have received particular recognition in the fields of commercial litigation, bankruptcy and creditors' rights, construction, health care, real estate transactions and litigation, railroad, admiralty, maritime financing, oil and gas and labor and employment. Attorneys in this office are routinely recognized nationally in Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers, and locally in New Orleans Magazine Top Lawyers, as well as City Business Leaders in Law and Women in Leadership.

Legal Support Coordinator - New Orleans

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC has an opening for a Litigation Legal Support Coordinator in its New Orleans office. Ideal candidate will have a high level of legal experience and administrative experience, exceptional communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively within a group or independently. Candidate should be proficient in MS Word (high priority), Outlook and Excel and type a minimum of 65 words per minute with high accuracy. The candidate should be detail oriented, a self-starter with excellent problem solving skills and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining calendars with litigation dates and deadlines, as well as other necessary dates;
  • Prioritizing and executing tasks quickly and accurately;
  • Formatting and setting up documents, including pleadings, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents;
  • Preparing shell documents for attorneys in relation to discovery, orders, motions, trials and other proceedings;
  • Filing litigation documents with state and federal courts – knowledge of electronic filing is required;
  • Handling a high volume of proofreading;
  • Updating and maintaining files, physical and electronic;
  • Time entry, Processing client bills, conducting client conflict checks, transcribing dictation;
  • Reviewing vendor invoices and processing for payment;
  • Assisting attorneys and paralegals in preparation for hearings, mediations, arbitrations and trials.

Financial Services Associate – All Offices (Charlotte or Raleigh, NC preferred) (#790)

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, P.C. seeks a mid-level associate with four or more years of debt finance experience to join its thriving Financial Services Transaction practice. Specific experience representing lenders and borrowers on leveraged finance transactions, including drafting and negotiating credit agreements, intercreditor agreements, security agreements and other primary loan documents, as well as managing transaction closings and supervising junior associates and paralegals is preferred. Experience with mezzanine finance or other private credit funds is a plus. Applicants who have excellent analytical and writing skills, as well as a strong understanding of acquisition financing, are sought to become a part of a nationally recognized financial services team. Estate Planning and Administration Position - New Olreans

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC has an immediate opening for an experienced Estate Planning/Estate Administration/Successions position in its New Orleans office. Estate Planning responsibilities include data input and organization related to the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, beneficiary designations, and various other estate planning instruments. Estate Administration & Successions responsibilities include assistance with matters such as identifying and marshaling assets, preparing probate petitions, maintaining a calendar system of court and other deadlines, maintaining financial records of the estate, preparing inventories and accountings, and fulfilling many other functions throughout the succession (probate) process. The ability to interface with clients and financial institutions as part of the information-gathering process is a must. Responsibilities may also include assistance with the preparation of trust accountings, estate and gift tax returns, and income and fiduciary returns. Client contact is to be expected. Applicants should have substantial experience with respect to preparing estate planning, estate administration, and probate instruments. All candidates must have either a bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program.

Candidates should possess organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Must have proficient and accurate knowledge of computers and MS Office Suite, including Outlook and Excel. Must possess excellent oral and written skills, attention to detail, time management, multi-tasking and prioritizing abilities and the desire to work hard both independently and as part of a team.  Experience with ProbatePlus or Estateworks software is a plus.

Receptionist - New Orleans

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC has an opening for a receptionist in its New Orleans, LA, office. The ideal candidate will be extremely professional, possess exceptional communication and organizational skills, and have a proficiency in MS Outlook and basic typing skills.  

Responsibilities include placing, receiving, and routing calls through a Teams™ system; greeting clients and other visitors; maintaining neatness of the lobby and reception area; receiving, logging and routing deliveries; validating guests’ parking; scheduling conference rooms, including verification of technology and catering needs (may include placing catering orders); daily emails to office regarding conference room schedules; routing office service requests to building; updating floor maps and telephone lists. Assist with hotel reservations. Reconcile and back up Office Services personnel as needed. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to, check requests and daily bank deposit as needed.

Business Development Manager - New Orleans

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC has an immediate opening for a Business Development Manager in the Marketing and Business Development (MBD) Department in its New Orleans office. Applicants residing outside of New Orleans but within the Firm's footprint may be considered as well. This Manager will work primarily with the litigation department and individual attorneys to drive revenue growth through the creation and execution of business development strategies. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring a collaborative, coordinated, and structured approach to business and client development, targeting, pitching, marketing campaigns, and credentialing across the assigned groups. The Manager will report to the Director of Business Development. 

Essential duties and responsibilities for the Manager include:

  • Proactively identifying, executing on, and providing strategic guidance for all marketing and business development opportunities for assigned groups and attorneys, including creating, executing, tracking, and reporting on business development goals and targets.
  • Collaborating with the relevant MBD subject matter experts to execute on marketing and business development activities, including responses to RFPs, PR, events, sponsorships, directory submissions, social media, marketing collateral, etc.
  • Proactively identifying and coaching attorneys on business development opportunities and collaborating with MBD members to provide customized supporting materials.
  • Educating groups about client relationship management best practices and ensuring that they are adopted.
  • Identifying and developing strategic client growth plans and partnering with lawyers for successful execution.
  • Analyzing, and conducting as needed, research on clients, industries, and other service providers.
  • Coordinating and actively participating in regular meetings of groups, tracking subsequent action items to completion, and reporting on the outcomes.
  • Creating and maintaining marketing materials for assigned groups, including capturing experience and case studies.
  • Developing, monitoring, and leveraging marketing budgets for assigned groups to ensure maximum ROI.

Qualifications:

Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills are required, as are advanced skills in research and Microsoft Office applications.  Previous experience in legal or professional services marketing or sales is required.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, extreme temperatures, and the like.  The nature of the legal industry requires that some of the job responsibilities be completed during non-business hours.  In accordance with industry standards, it is expected that Information Security professionals be flexible with regards to availability when work must be performed during non-business hours.  Occasional travel required.
